Subscriptions

Sell time-limited access to a Telegram group, track subscribers in GramBase, and see what happens automatically when a subscription lapses.

A subscription product sells time-limited membership in one or more of your Telegram groups. GramBase tracks who has access, warns them before it lapses, and removes them from the group when it does.

Subscription products

A subscription product names the Telegram group or groups a buyer is granted access to when they pay, and either a fixed duration in days or no duration at all, which sells lifetime access. The duration and group list are set on the product; every price tier on a tiered subscription product needs its own price on every rail you sell it through (crypto and, if enabled, Telegram Stars).

GramBase's subscription plans table: a 30-day tier and a Lifetime tier, each priced in USD and Telegram Stars.
A 30-day tier and a Lifetime tier, each priced separately in USD and Telegram Stars.

The group access a paid order grants is fixed at the moment of payment: if you change a subscription product’s group list later, buyers who already paid keep what was promised to them when they paid, not your current configuration.

Managing subscribers

Subscriptions in GramBase lists every subscriber across your subscription products, with running counts for active subscribers, subscribers expiring in the next 7 days, and subscribers churned in the last 7 days. You can filter by member or Telegram ID, by product, and by group.

The Subscribers table: expiry dates, status, and the row actions — Extend, Regenerate invite, Renew link, Delete.

From a subscriber row you can:

  • Extend — add a number of days to the current expiry. If the subscription already lapsed, the extension counts from today rather than from the old expiry.
  • Regenerate invite — revoke the subscriber’s existing group invite link and issue a fresh one-time link, valid for a single use and expiring at the subscription’s own expiry. Only available while the subscription is active.
  • Renew link — copy a deep link that opens your bot and starts the purchase flow for that subscription’s product, for you to send the buyer yourself.
  • Delete — remove the subscription record and ask the bot to remove the member from the group. The record is deleted either way; the group removal is best-effort and does not block it.

A Fix action also appears where GramBase notices a subscriber is still in the group despite their subscription no longer being active — it removes them from the group and revokes their invite to bring group membership back in line with subscription state.

Renewal and expiry

GramBase does not automatically re-charge a buyer when their subscription is about to lapse — no rail (crypto or Telegram Stars) supports that here. Renewal means the buyer places a new order, whether on their own or after you send them a renewal link.

Before a subscription lapses, GramBase sends the buyer reminder messages 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before expiry (an additional 30-minute reminder exists in the same schedule). Each milestone is sent at most once per subscription — a reminder that already went out never repeats, even if the same check runs again.

When access ends

GramBase periodically checks for subscriptions past their expiry, removes the member from the group, and revokes their invite link. The subscription record is then marked expired, and the buyer receives a notification — if a buyer’s several subscriptions lapse together, they get one grouped message rather than one per subscription.

Group removal is attempted but not guaranteed: if Telegram reports the member can’t be removed (this happens when the member owns the group), GramBase still marks the subscription expired and records that the member could not be removed, rather than leaving the subscription open. Deleting a subscription from GramBase follows the same best-effort pattern: the subscription record is always removed, and the bot is asked to remove group access at the same time.

Known limits

  • Renewal is not automatic. GramBase does not re-bill a buyer's card, wallet, or Stars balance — a subscription lapses unless the buyer places a new order, or you send them a renewal link.
  • Renewal rate is not shown as a number in GramBase yet; the metric is marked unavailable until GramBase can attribute a renewal reliably.
  • Removing an expired or deleted subscriber from the group is best-effort. If Telegram reports the member cannot be removed (for example, they own the group), the subscription still ends in GramBase's records even though the member stays in the group.
